Community Pulse: Results from our Caroline County Infrastructure & Accountability Survey

Thank you to the 13 residents from across the county who took the time to participate in our recent Accountability & Infrastructure Check.

As your candidate for the Caroline County Board of Supervisors - Western District, I believe in data-driven leadership. Transparency starts with listening, and these results represent a clear cross-section of the concerns facing Caroline County today.

Key Findings from Our 13 Respondents

1. A Call for Proactive Leadership The message regarding our current county leadership is loud and clear. 69% (9 out of 13) of respondents feel that the current Board of Supervisors is "Out of Touch" with the specific needs of our community. Only 15% believe the Board is currently being proactive in planning for the future of Caroline County.

2. Protecting our County’s Character When asked about the proposed Data Center developments, the community expressed significant caution:

  • 61% (8 out of 13) of neighbors are firmly opposed, stating these projects do not fit the character of our county.

  • 31% (4 out of 13) expressed serious concerns regarding noise and water usage.

  • Only one respondent offered support, provided strict conditions are met.

3. Overwhelming Support for a Public Water Authority On the issue of utilities, the consensus among those impacted is nearly unanimous. Of the residents currently served by private utilities, 90% support the county establishing a Public Water Authority to provide local oversight and more stable rates.

4. Strategic Growth & Amenities We all value our quiet community, but we also value our time. 54% (7 out of 13) of respondents believe that proactively recruiting a major grocery store (like Publix, Aldi, or Wegmans) to the Ladysmith area should be a Top Priority for the Board of Supervisors.

5. Investing in our Schools When looking at the next budget cycle for Caroline County Public Schools, our participants identified two main priorities:

  • Attracting & Retaining Talent: Nearly half of respondents want to focus on raising teacher pay to keep our best educators in the county.

  • Vocational Training: 31% prioritized increasing technical and vocational training for our students.

The Path Forward

These 13 responses provide a snapshot of a county that is ready for change. You’ve told me that you want a Board that listens, protects our land, and fixes our pipes. I am committed to being that voice for all of Caroline County.
